The ICA Invitational showcases the culinary and academic talents of high school students within a 100 mile radius. The ICA Invitational is composed of several competitions; Culinary Skills Competition, Hospitality Knowledge Bowl, Management Competition, and Individual Competitions.

The Philosophy of the Invitational Is:
  • Culinary Skills Competition students demonstrate their creative abilities and culinary skills through the
    preparation of a three-course meal in 60 minutes.
  • Hospitality Knowledge Bowl students demonstrate their knowledge of the restaurant and food service
    industry by competing in a question and answer "Jeopardy" style event.
  • Management Competition, students are tested on their communication skills and their ability to
    apply knowledge of the restaurant and foodservice industry to practical situations.
  • Individual Competitions, students compete individually in the following venues:
    Management (interviewing and portfolio), Knife Skills, Poultry Fabrication, Tapas, Side Salads,
    Plated Desserts, Chocolate/Sugar Sculpture, and Decorated Cakes.
