The Metropolitan: A Magazine of Writing by Students at Metropolitan Community College

The Metropolitan
publishes all types of academic and literary writing, including descriptive, narrative, expository, and persuasive works, as well as creative prose and poetry.  We encourage writings from across the disciplines and also welcome visual art. Our goal is to showcase the best of the many voices, styles, and subjects MCC writers and readers find meaningful and to support critical thinking, creativity, and expression at Metropolitan Community College.

2019 Submission Deadline: Saturday, November 30th. Check our submissions page for awards and guidelines.

The 2017 issue of The Metropolitan is available in the writing centers, libraries, and student services areas. Pick up your free copy. We are now preparing the 2018 issue.

MCC instructors, our editors will be happy to provide handouts and copies of the mag, and to speak briefly to your classes about the benefits of submitting work for publication. Please mail or call 24683 to make arrangements.

Students, check out our submission guidelines page, and don't hesitate to  contact us or a Writing Center consultant for help with your submissions. Keep in mind that though we seek high quality writing of all types, you do not need to be a professional writer to place your work here.
